Inquiring Minds Want to Know

 IMWTK ( INQUIRING MINDS  WANT TO KNOW ) Well, here we are less than a week from the Bulldogs' 2026 season opener against ULM. This is one we're supposed to win -- one of two games that I'd guess everyone expects us to win. Of course, we've all seen State teams lose to presumed cupcake teams before. In fact, back when ULM was known as Northeast Louisiana, they tied us in Bob Tyler's first game as head coach  in1972 , then beat us with Jackie as our coach in 1995. And remember Ahmad Hardy, the fearsome Mizzou RB from Lawrence Co. (MS) High school, who stomped over, around, and through State's D for 300 yds. last season? He began his career as a ULM Warhawk, where as a true freshman he led the team in rushing and was named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. The Warhawks will have some players, but not enough that they should beat MSU or any other SEC team. Sink or Be Sunk

  SINK OR BE SUNK - IT'S NOW OR NEVER US Navy gunboats vs. British Royal Navy, War of 1812 With less than a month to go before the Miss. State Bulldogs open the 2026 season with a home contest with the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks ( nee' NELU Indians) it feels like time to look ahead not just to the game, but to the season. It's talking season, when SEC Media Days have just occurred, and all of the preseason pundits are in full swing putting out and trying to speak into existence their preseason polls and picks. For us Bulldog fans, we're still unbeaten and unscored upon, and ready for the illusive "next year" ... but have the specter of the past 3 losing seasons and a total of 2 SEC wins lurking over our shoulders. This seems to be a "sink or be sunk" * year ... perhaps both for our coach and for our program. We know what we want , but what should we expect ?
